I lift my eyes up to the hills,

Wondering where my help will come

The world is loud, the shadows long,

And I feel so far from home

My heart is like a parched land,

Thirsty for the living stream.

I’m weary from the heavy road

Lost inside a troubled dream.

But I hear a whisper in the dark

A promise that You’re near

You say, “Do not be dismayed,

For I am with you;

Do not fear”

You uphold me when I fall

I only have to speak Your name

You answer when I call

When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,

Your gentle word

It heals my soul

Your comforts are the light that finally wins me

Your consolation makes me whole

In the multitude of worries

Your peace begins to bloom

A quiet joy that settles in

And fills up every room

You lead me by the quiet waters

Restoring all I’ve lost

You’ve already won the battle

You’ve already paid the cost

Even in the deepest valley

Your rod and staff are there

I cast my every burden down

For I know how much You care

Search me, God, and know my heart

Test my anxious mind

Leave the bitterness behind

And show me what is kind

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet

A light upon my way

New mercies every morning

Come to meet the brand-new day
